A Primer on STAR IPL
What is 'STAR'?
This image shows how the teacher act as a guide in learning. There are four walls which is not closed but it is surrounded . This means Teacher allows students to think beyond the boundaries. But not allow the student to roam around without understanding. Let us understand one by one about the walls or components of STAR.
The first one - The Simulation stage involves the teacher developing situations, activities, examples, experiments or real-life scenarios where learners can find a concept instead of only hearing about it. This makes learning a more hands-on and engaging experience.
The next step is Transmutation — turning information into understanding and useable knowledge. The students are trained to question, analyse, relate ideas together and apply their learning to real world scenarios.
Adoption is the third component, which is building the hypothesis into some day-to-day behaviour and thought process. The role of the teacher is to be a facilitator, enabling learners learn how to navigate their individual path while simultaneously persuading them into falling in love with confidence, discipline, creativity and problem solving.
And lastly, Retention guarantees that learning remains with the learner. The use of revision, repetitions, reflection and analytical discussion with practice in an environment mimicking the real world will perpetually transform fleeting knowledge into sustained capability.
Here teacher's roll is just to guide the students to find the learning component. His work is auditing what students are doing? and stop them if they try to flow out of boundary.
What is 'IPL'?
The IPL to make a person complete through education. Adaptation encourages knowledge and talent. Physical development induces motion, motor coordination, discipline and good habits. Logical development improves reasoning, decision-making, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
Now let's understand what is IPL in learning. Any concept or topic can be understood by three major ways. The first one Intellectual way. Here students has to understand the concept intellectually. This this involves students mind, which thinks, relates and understands. This is completely students internal activity.
Second one is Physically- means student confirms is understanding by physical activities, like experiments or real life activity which confirms whatever he understood is correct and confirms it. Which in turn authenticates the intellectual understanding
Finally the logical way. Again this is completely a students activity where student use a clear, step by step reasoning based on the facts and real
evidences. They check whether the results were consistent and Goal focused(means the final understanding or point). By doing this he learns and retain the knowledge for life.
You must be thinking I have shown two different pictures for teaching where as others concept has only one image.
Actually mine is also single picture only. See the picture in left side here Student is in the middle. He is Understanding topics on the basis of Intellectual, Physical and logical way. Where as teacher builds the open ended walls around the students which are Simulation, Transmutation, Adoption and Retention. He guides them through all these components and makes the learning is closed.
Once learning is passed through all the process and closed, it remains in the student for life. It can be recalled thru his life whenever it is required and used for its purpose. Thus making learning is not just making some one certified person. It is making the person certified along with experienced . Teacher's work as guide is to make the student not just another machine, instead making him human. I call the 'GLOBAL HUMAN'.
STAR IPL is more than just a teaching method; it is a way to develop skilled, flexible, and self-assured individuals who are well-prepared for what lies ahead.
